Tharaka University (TUN) Vice-Chancellor & CEO Prof. Peter Muriungi presided over the awarding and closing ceremony of the 2025 4th Edition of Career, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Week, themed Empowering Career Growth through Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The winners of the Career Innovations and Entrepreneurship Week competition were awarded for their outstanding projects. In the Business Ideas category, Eunice Nyagichuhi won her project Crochet-based design & app, while Geoffrey Karanja emerged as the winner of his Artwork in Book Publication and Artwork. Maureen Ndagara topped the Food, Health, and Environmental category with her Chicken vaccine project.


In AI, Machine Learning, and Emerging Technologies, Dennis Nganga won with an AI fertility meal plan, and in Digital Solutions for Business, Education, and Lifestyle, Rachel Kanyiri secured the top spot with iMental; both winners in these categories also received a Huawei tablet in addition to the cash prize. Finally, in Agriculture and Environment, Peris Mugure, Caleb Odoyo, and Christine Wambui won with their project on the Eco-friendly decomposition of diapers and sanitary pads with common micro-organisms.
The awarding ceremony featured several guest speakers who shared valuable insights with the students. Mr. Michael Kamau from Huawei ICT Academy emphasized the importance of skills and networking as key drivers for future success. The Chief Guest representing the CEO of Konza Technopolis, Madam Wafula spoke on Artificial Intelligence and innovation, highlighting how digital skills are crucial in today’s economy and reaffirming Konza’s commitment to supporting young people in the digital space. Mr. Charles Maru from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) educated students on quality assurance, stressing its significance in ensuring that innovations meet the required standards.
